Elections:  Elections shall be held at the Annual Convention on the First Sunday in December. Two methods of voting will be acceptable, Personal Ballot or Absentee Ballot, as defined immediately following:

  • Personal Ballot: A list of all candidates for office will be published by November 15th. Actual ballot forms will be available at the Annual Meeting.  Voting members are to complete and present ballot forms at the club in person by 3:00 pm on the day of the Annual Convention, along with photo identification, if requested, and are to sign the voting register.

  • Absentee Ballot: Absentee Ballots will be made available to members upon request as prescribed by the policy established by the EB and the Nominating Committee Chair. The Nominating and Election Committee will be the sole authority for verifying and validating both personal and absentee ballots. Elderly or Disabled Members: Elderly or disabled members residing within the State of Connecticut and unable to travel to the club on their own may request and are guaranteed transportation for the purpose of casting their personal ballot.

One Vote: Each eligible voting member shall be entitled to cast one vote for each position for which a candidate has been nominated. In the event that a position is not contested and only one candidate has been nominated, the Nominating and Election Committee will cast a single ballot for that candidate.

Results: After the tabulation of votes at the close of the balloting, the results shall be announced by the Nominating/Election Committee, and shall be published after the convention.

Tie: In the event of a tie vote involving one or more offices, and should neither candidate withdraw, the Nominating and Election Committee will schedule a re-vote as soon as is practical and post the new time on the website. There will be no use of Absentee Ballots in the case of a re-vote.

Nominees for Vice President, IACC There are two nominees running for Vice President, IACC.  Below, please find their submissions for election.

  • Nikki Brooks: My name is Nikki Brooks and I’m running for the position of Vice President of the IACC. For those of you who do not know me, I am a registered nurse and I live in East Haven with my husband Bill and 14-year-old daughter Abby. I became a member 3 years ago after talking to my grandmother and learning of her father who came to the United States from Tralee, County Kerry in the early 1900’s. I wanted to learn more about my family’s Irish culture so we decided to join. Since then, I have come to realize what an asset this club is to the community and I hope it continues to preserve and educate the Irish culture and traditions for generations to come. It is for this reason I have chosen to run to be a member of the executive board. I have volunteered in many capacities, both directly as the chairperson for vendors for the annual Irish Festival and as a backup bartender, as well as working behind the scenes for numerous club events. By serving in these capacities, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about the IACC and it’s members, including what they want and expect from the club, which includes a culturally rich and inviting organization where people can go, feel welcome, and enjoy themselves. I have also had the opportunity to work with a very dedicated and hard-working group of board members which I feel I would complement, and would work hard to ensure the future success of the club so that it is available for generations to come. I would appreciate your vote, and I hope you will show your support for your club by coming out to the elections. Thank you.

  • Robin Pollock:  Hello Members, My name is Robin Reilly Pollock, I’m running for the position of Vice President of the IACC. If I haven’t had the opportunity to meet you, please let me introduce myself. I’m retired from Knights of Columbus Supreme Office, where I worked directly under the Treasurer. I’m Treasurer and a Board Member of Kidunot, 501c Living Organ Donor Organization. I’m married to Richard for 26 years and we have two grown children. My roots go back to County Leitrim, where my grandfather left at 13 years of age. His life and many stories are near and dear to my heart. I joined the Club a few years ago and realized what an asset it is to the Irish Community. I have volunteered and helped at dinners, Irish breakfasts, Holiday Fairs and the annual Festival. I have a lot of experience with bingo and when the club decided last November to have weekly bingo, I volunteered to help organize and get the bingo running smoothly. I have been at the club every Friday since working at the bingo which is a big success. I am very dedicated and committed to helping the club to continue being successful. It’s so important to me to continue educating and preserving the Irish traditions and culture for years to come. I hope you will support and vote for me for VP December 1st. Thank you, Robin.
