Congratulations to the 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade Queen Lindsey Stamp (R)

and her Honor Attendants Kristina Conroy (L)!

Lindsey and Kristina were crowned on Saturday evening at the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club/Irish American Community Center. Congratulations to all of the contestants who participated, and to the Co-Chairs of the Committee Cathleen Steinau and Sheila Smyth Vanacore, and their committee who presented a fabulous evening for all!

Come join us Saturday, February 27th from 9am-12 noon for our 1st Annual Green Eggs & Ham Family Breakfast! Admission is $6 per child, $9 per adult but if you bring in a new or gently used children's book you will receive $1.00 off per meal, 1 book per meal. All books will be donated to the New Haven Reads Organization.

Attendees are invited to come dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character as they feast on green scrambled eggs, 'ham' & pancakes. Milk, juice, coffee & tea will also be served.

There will be Door Prizes, Kids Games, Crafts, Story Time, Face Painting and a whole lot more!

Be on the look-out for a special guest appearance from the Cat-in-the-Hat!

All proceeds of this event will go to support the 2010 Greater New Haven's St. Patrick's Day Parade which will be held Sunday, March 14th.

Mr. Gaelic 2009 John Joe Mackey will give up his crown on Feb. 27th!

Great Craic For A Good Cause Saturday 27th February at 8pm.  – The fourth Annual Mr. Gaelic Competition is a male pageant spoof that simply shakes the club rafters with laughter.  Watch as last year’s title holder John Joe Mackey surrenders cape and crown to the winner of a hilarious line-up of dashing local flair.  For a mere $10 donation you too may witness this priceless display of style, parody and hidden talent while supporting our young footballers and hurlers.  Come out and have a blast as New Haven GFC hosts Mr. Gaelic Club “GCF”, which of course stands for “good, clean fun!”  Taste and savoir-faire are guaranteed, and so are the laughs.  Don’t miss it!  Entrants may contact Andrew Lucey andrewlucey@sbcglobal.net (203) 804-0013 or Susan Kiely suejam48@charter.net (203)650-4946. 


Irish Language Lessons for Kids



We're looking forward to making our Sundays at the Club a full cultural day for families and are planning on offering Irish language lessons for the kids (to be scheduled to coincide with the music lessons and sports).  If your children (ages 8 and up) are interested in learning Irish, please contact Margaret Prendergast (mspren@snet.net) to register for classes.

 

 

IRISH TRADITIONAL MUSIC LESSONS AT THE IACC  

Katie Is Back!  Irish Traditional Music Lessons Return To IACC

The kids class will be from 530-630 and the adult class will be from 630-730.

Make sure that you take advantage of this opportunity for yourself or your children! Katie Linnane is a student at Quinnipiac University with a broad background in Irish Traditional Music, and has just returned after an extended stay in Ireland.  She is an accomplished fiddler and experienced music instructor, and helps her family run the Linnane School of Music in Pearl River, New York. Katie will return to the club offering lessons in tin whistle and fiddle to club members at the IACC starting Thursday, June 4th. Complete beginners ages six up to teenagers and adults are welcome, as are more advanced students. EXCLUSIVE CLUB RATES: Rates are $15 per week for one family member, $12 per week for the second and $10 for the third.  Lessons will be on Sundays at 12:30 for children and 1:30 for adults.
