NEW HAVEN ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE  Sun. 14th March at 1pm.

Start your day off great with a special Parade Mass at St. Mary Church, Hillhouse Ave., at 10am.  After Mass refreshments will be served thanks to the Pioneers of the Sacred Heart.  We are appealing to everyone young and old to come out on Sunday, March 14th at 1pm. to show the spectators our pride in our true Irish heritage as we march down the streets of New Haven.  We need 42 people to carry the various flags, so call soon as they are going fast. There will be three buses leaving from our Club at 11.30 SHARP!! to bring us to the starting point of the parade.  Afterward we will have an early, late and later bus to transport the marchers back to the club for ceol agus craic.  Entertainment provided by The Kennedy’s.  No admission charge and food and beverages will be available. Please don’t let the people down who revived this grand parade in 1956. ST. PATRICK’S DAY Wednesday 17th  March at 5.30am.

Rise up early as we kick-off St. Patrick’s Day at our club.  Join in the fun as WPLR’s Morning Show broadcasts live from Venice Place!  Chaz, AJ, and a cast of characters will be live on the air at the Irish American Community Center from 5.30am to 10am to start your 2010 St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Full Irish breakfast and breakfast sandwiches will be available from 6am – 12 noon.  Corned beef sandwiches will be available all day.  Watch the All  Ireland Club Football and Hurling Finals in the lounge starting at 8.30am. 

Popular singing pair, the Dublin Duo will be entertaining in the lounge from 2-6pm.  Come listen as they sing your favorites.

IRISH MUSIC ALL DAY 6am – 4pm on WNHU 88.7FM Wednesday, 17th March
WNHU  and The Kennedy's  proudly present  their 18th annual  "Day of Irish Music" on St. Patrick's Day, 17th March.  The show can be heard from 6am to 4pm on 88.7 F.M. and on the internet at www.wnhu.net.  As in the past, we will give away lots of music and other items during our 10 hour marathon. Tune in and request your favorite song and send greeting to friends and family.  If you want to get your request to us in advance please e-mail them to us at  echoe2@comcast.net  and we will be happy to include you in our drawings throughout the day. Hope to hear from you on the 17th.  Please note the starting time as it is earlier than in previous years.

Lindsey and Kristina were crowned on Saturday evening at the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club/Irish American Community Center. Congratulations to all of the contestants who participated, and to the Co-Chairs of the Committee Cathleen Steinau and Sheila Smyth Vanacore, and their committee who presented a fabulous evening for all!

Irish Language Lessons for Kids



We're looking forward to making our Sundays at the Club a full cultural day for families and are planning on offering Irish language lessons for the kids (to be scheduled to coincide with the music lessons and sports).  If your children (ages 8 and up) are interested in learning Irish, please contact Margaret Prendergast (mspren@snet.net) to register for classes.

 

 

IRISH TRADITIONAL MUSIC LESSONS AT THE IACC  

Katie Is Back!  Irish Traditional Music Lessons Return To IACC

The kids class will be from 530-630 and the adult class will be from 630-730.

Make sure that you take advantage of this opportunity for yourself or your children! Katie Linnane is a student at Quinnipiac University with a broad background in Irish Traditional Music, and has just returned after an extended stay in Ireland.  She is an accomplished fiddler and experienced music instructor, and helps her family run the Linnane School of Music in Pearl River, New York. Katie will return to the club offering lessons in tin whistle and fiddle to club members at the IACC starting Thursday, June 4th. Complete beginners ages six up to teenagers and adults are welcome, as are more advanced students. EXCLUSIVE CLUB RATES: Rates are $15 per week for one family member, $12 per week for the second and $10 for the third.  Lessons will be on Sundays at 12:30 for children and 1:30 for adults.
