Drama "The Weir”

The New Haven Gaelic Players proudly present The Weir by Conor McPherson, directed by Sandy Hanrahan. Performances will take place on the John & Kathleen O’Donovan Stage in the Charlie & Margaret Starrs Theater at the Irish-American Community Center. This acclaimed production features a brilliant cast starring Brian Beirne, JP Integlia, Seamus Lonergan, Mick Malone, and Andrea Bullard.

First premiering in 1997, The Weir has received several major theatre awards and has become one of Conor McPherson’s most celebrated plays. Set in a small rural Irish pub, the story centers around four close-knit local men whose familiar evening is interrupted by the arrival of Valerie, a young woman from Dublin. Hoping to impress the newcomer, the men begin swapping stories of local folklore, fairies, hauntings, and encounters with the supernatural. But as the evening unfolds, the mood shifts when Valerie reveals a haunting and deeply personal story of her own.
